Terms & Conditions | Adventure Activities | Jurassic Watersports

Acknowledgement of risk

All activities operated by Jurassic Watersports are physically demanding adventurous outdoor pursuits that carry with them inherent risks of accidental injury. Our team works incredibly hard to minimise these risks as much as feasibly possible. However, these risks include serious physical harm, broken bones, cuts and lacerations, head injuries and drowning.

Sessions can be cut short, cancelled or adapted at any time before or during any activity if any one of our team feel the conditions are no longer appropriate or safe to operate in for the given participants. Any participant has the right to back out of an activity at any time if they feel unable to participate further. (Our team will of course try to encourage you where appropriate, but you should never feel under any pressure to participate)

It is important that we are made aware of any illnesses or injuries that may affect your ability or safety during a session. Please note, we ask for this information in no way to disqualify you from taking part, it is simply in everyone's best interest that we are aware of these conditions so that we can ensure your safety, and the safety of others.

Conditions that are of particular importance are:

  • Asthma and other breathing conditions
  • Heart or respiratory conditions (even if in the past)
  • Physical injuries affecting or limiting movement/mobility
  • Recently healed injuries or surgeries (Last 12 months)
  • Ongoing Mental Health concerns
  • If you are currently or recently Pregnant
  • Any other medical conditions requiring you to take medication, or that you would usually have to inform a health care practitioner about prior to treatment.

Accidents are always a possibility, following the directions of your instructor are key to mitigating the risks of an accident occurring. Jurassic Watersports can not accept responsibility or liability for any accident that occurs as a result of not following directions, or not as a result of negligence on the part of a member of our staff.

Please read the relevant section below, specific to your chosen activities.

COASTEERING

Coasteering involves traversing rocky coastlines, swimming in caves, jumping from rocks and operating in and around moving, tidal waters. This is an incredibly dynamic environment that is always changing, even over the course of a session. Our Instructors are highly trained and experienced in monitoring and adapting to these conditions and every effort is made to assess the forecast prior to every session.

You will be required to spend extended periods of time in the water, make long, unaided swims and enter the water with confidence from varying heights. You can expect to be swimming through breaking waves and tidal currents, as well as moving across rocky ledges, through these waves. You must be confident in being in the water and swimming at least 25m in open water conditions, wearing a Wetsuit and Buoyancy Aid.

ROCK CLIMBING & ABSEILING

Climbing and Abseiling involves climbing on outdoor, naturally occurring rock faces, belaying for other climbers, lowering yourself over the edge of cliff tops and operating close to/over the edge of heigh cliff edges. It is important that all participants follow Instructor directions around keeping safe at heights and using PPE correctly.

You will be required to hang from rope lines, placing your trust in the equipment and another individual managing the safety of those lines. You must be physically able to move your own body weight and follow all commands from your instructor relating to the safe handling of ropes.

PADDLESPORT

(Including Kayaking & Paddleboarding)

Kayak Tours and Experiences involve receiving basic skill instruction, paddling distances in sheltered open water, paddling through waves and stopping on steep and rocky beaches. Some Kayak & SUP sessions may involve water based games that may result in entering the water by jumping or falling. At all times in or around the water you will be wearing a buoyancy aid.

You will be required to paddle varying distances and should expect to paddle for a round journey time of up to 2 hours (with a stop). You will also need to be physically able to assist in carrying boats/boards short distances and swim short distances while wearing a buoyancy aid. You should be confident being in or around water.

*If booking for a participant under the age of 18, it is important that all parents and legal guardians are informed and aware of the information above.
