Whether you’re completely new, need guidance to get started, or are unsure which equipment to choose, our Paddleboard Taster experiences cover everything you need. Our expert instructors will have you paddling confidently in no time.
Even if you’ve tried SUP before but found it tricky, don’t worry. With the growing popularity of paddleboarding, many low-quality boards have hit the market, and the wrong board can make a big difference. That’s why we use high-quality 10’10 boards from Tiki, designed for stability and buoyancy, making it easier to enjoy the sport.

PADDLEBOARDING TASTER SESSION - Open Sessions
Open sessions are at the heart of our Paddleboarding experiences at Jurassic Watersports. With up to 8 spaces per session, individuals, couples, friends, and families can book the places they need and enjoy the tour as part of a small group. This approach is ideal for smaller groups (1–4 people) looking for an affordable way to experience Paddleboarding without booking privately. While many providers have reduced or stopped offering open Paddleboarding sessions, we remain committed to this style of experience, helping to keep our experiences accessible, social, and great value.
Open sessions typically include 6-10 people, aged 14+.

PRIVATE PADDLEBOARDING TASTER SESSIONS
Private sessions can be customised to suit your group, whether you’d like to focus on skill-building and technique or enjoy a more playful, activity-led session with games and splashing around. It’s an ideal mix of learning and fun in one of Dorset’s most beautiful coastal settings.
Private sessions are enjoyed exclusively with your friends or family, making them ideal for family groups, school groups, and stag & hen parties. They also offer greater flexibility with dates and session structure.
To secure your booking, you can pay a £10 per person deposit at the time of booking. Private Paddleboarding Taster Sessions are priced at £200 per group (up to 10 participants). For groups larger than 10, please contact our team to discuss options.

A Private Session at Jurassic Watersports gives you and your group a personalised adventure, with only your friends or family participating. Perfect for families and stag/hen groups, these sessions also offer greater flexibility with dates. Ideal if you want a tailored, exclusive experience or can’t find an open session that suits your schedule!
All our paddlesport activities are now based at Knoll Beach in Studland. The National Trust site provides toilets and a café, but we recommend arriving ready to go, as it's a bit of a walk to the facilities if you need to change.
Bring shoes to wear in the water, clothes you don’t mind getting wet, a towel, and a water bottle. If you wear contact lenses, it’s best to have a spare pair available to put in after your session. We also suggest you bring a waterproof jacket or windproof to keep the wind off.

You will be wearing a Buoyancy Aid at all times during coasteering, but being confident in the water helps. While non-swimmers can still participate in certain parts, some parts of the activity might be more challenging. Group sizes can vary, but typically, we aim for a smaller group of up to around 8 people. There are no strict minimum or maximum numbers, but sessions must remain cost-effective. (ie, we do need enough interest to make the session worthwhile.)
If you're looking for a smaller group, consider booking a Private Session for more tailored experiences.
While we try to avoid cancellations, we understand that the weather can sometimes be unpredictable. If a session is cancelled due to weather, we will work with you to reschedule at a time that's convenient for you. Remember, a bit of rain shouldn't spoil the adventure but 40mph winds just might!
Kayaking is physically demanding, and for open sessions, participants need to be at least 14 years old. However, we can arrange sessions for children aged 8-14 without issue, we just need you to get in touch first. We also require a minimum height of 138cm (4'6").
Jurassic Watersports is fully licensed by the HSE (AALA) to work with under-18s. For further details, please reach out to us directly.
