Dorset Climbing Experience - Open Sessions
Open sessions are at the heart of our climbing activities at Jurassic Watersports. With around 6 spaces available per session, individuals, couples, friends, and families can book the spots they need and enjoy an exciting Climbing adventure as part of a group. This format is ideal for small groups (1–4 people) who may find private sessions costly. While many providers have reduced or stopped offering open sessions, we remain committed to this style of experience, keeping our adventures accessible to everyone.
If you need greater flexibility with dates or would prefer a more personalised experience, take a look at our Private Sessions.
Open sessions typically include 6 people, aged 12/14+.

Our Private Climbing Sessions give you and your group an exclusive adventure with friends or family, making them perfect for family groups, stag & hen parties, or special occasions.
Private sessions offer greater flexibility with dates and a more personalised experience, tailored to your group’s size and skill level.
To secure your booking, you can choose to pay a £10 per person deposit at the time of booking. Final group numbers will be confirmed closer to the session date, with the remaining balance payable then. Please note there is a minimum charge of £360 for a Private Climbing Session.

A Private Session at Jurassic Watersports gives you and your group a personalised adventure, with only your friends or family participating. Perfect for families and stag/hen groups, these sessions also offer greater flexibility with dates. For Rock Climbing at Dancing Ledge, there are no dedicated changing rooms or toilets at the meeting point. The National Trust occasionally places portable toilets in the car park, but it’s best to assume there won't be any. The nearest toilets are at Putlake Farm, just up the road.
For your Climbing session, bring solid shoes with good grip and. (you will not be able to take part if you arrive without proper footwear!) We suggest you also bring a water bottle and waterproofs/warm clothing where appropriate.
