Two Days, Lifelong Skills, Our Signature School Trips - Unique to us!
The world of school trips has changed a lot over the years, and for the better! Young people are getting out more, learning more, and trying new experiences. At Jurassic Watersports, we’ve been fortunate to work alongside instructors with decades of experience, some of whom have been running trips longer than some of us have been able to walk. A few of us were even lucky enough to experience these kinds of trips as kids ourselves!
We’ve combined that “old school” approach with modern methods to create school trips and residentials that maximise learning, growth, and adventure, while keeping costs and logistics simple. Our signature two-day programme packs in incredible experiences that give students skills and memories that will last a lifetime.

Two Days of Adventure, Skills, and Teamwork
Day 1
Your group will arrive at Shell Bay car park with all their bags. These will be loaded into our van and taken to the campsite, while students carry just a day bag containing food, water, and waterproofs. Throughout the day, they will work in groups with a member of our team to learn navigation and map-reading skills as they make their way to the campsite. Upon arrival, students will collaborate to set up their tents and prepare their own dinner using camp stoves – a perfect introduction to teamwork and self-reliance.
Day 2
Students begin the day by preparing their own breakfast and packing lunch for the day. They’ll then pack up their tents and load their bags back into the van. Next, they’ll be issued Coasteering and Climbing kit before setting off along the coastal path toward the famous Dancing Ledge. At the ledge, they will spend the day Coasteering and Climbing, experiencing the thrill of the sea and cliffs under the guidance of our expert instructors. The day concludes with a walk out to Spyway Barn, where students will be collected after an action-packed, skill-building adventure.
What Makes Our School Residentials Unique?
We designed this programme to give young people more than just new experiences, it’s about learning and growing! Opportunities for independence are rare these days, and our trips put students right in the action. They’ll be challenged and encouraged to take responsibility for themselves, building confidence and essential life skills along the way.
This programme was created in collaboration with our clients to offer a more affordable option, ensuring all students have the chance to benefit. Most of these trips can be run for under £200 per student, making them accessible without compromising on adventure or learning.
The benefits for your students are immense! Key highlights include:
- Learning incredible new skills.
- Gaining independence and confidence.
- Developing resilience and problem-solving abilities.
- Becoming more self-sufficient.
- Experiencing something truly different and memorable.
- Enjoying an affordable, accessible adventure.
- Preparing for programmes such as DofE.
From a school perspective, these trips are also extremely convenient. They minimise the need for minibuses or additional school transport, the only travel required is to and from the trip. Local schools can even consider parent drop-off and collection for extra ease.

Not really! We can run these programmes for a wide range of group sizes. However, for cost efficiency, it's best to keep numbers close to multiples of 10, as staffing ratios can make smaller groups more expensive per person.
If you’re unsure whether your group size works, we’re always happy to advise!
Absolutely! We’ll provide a full kit list for you to share with your students so they arrive prepared and ready for adventure!
For most of our adventure programmes, we recommend participants be 12–13 years old or above.
We tailor activities to suit the group’s age, and older students typically get even more out of the experience.
For our ‘True Adventure Trips’, we suggest a minimum age of 14 (Year 9+) to ensure students can fully engage with the independence, responsibility, and skill-building involved
We’re based along the stunning Jurassic Coast in Dorset, with our main locations in and around Swanage. These areas offer perfect conditions for coasteering, kayaking, climbing, and a variety of coastal and land-based activities.
We can also bring some activities to you or to locations closer to your school. Whether you’re looking for coastal adventures or inland training, we deliver unforgettable experiences in some of the UK’s most scenic outdoor learning environments
We regularly run programmes for groups of up to 30, and can scale to 60+ without difficulty. While smaller groups often get a more personalised experience, we’re fully equipped to manage larger cohorts and tailor the programme accordingly.
