Dorset coasteering experience - Open sessions
Open sessions are at the heart of our coasteering activities at Jurassic Watersports. With 10–20 spaces available per session, individuals, couples, friends, and families can book the spaces they need and enjoy an exciting coasteering adventure as part of a group. This format is ideal for small groups (1–4 people) looking for an affordable way to experience coasteering in Dorset, without the added cost of a private session. While many providers have reduced or stopped offering open sessions, we remain committed to this style of experience, keeping our adventures accessible to everyone.
If you need greater flexibility with dates or would prefer a more personalised experience, take a look at our Private Sessions.

A Private Session at Jurassic Watersports gives you and your group a personalised adventure, with only your friends or family participating. Perfect for families and stag/hen groups, these sessions also offer greater flexibility with dates. Ideal if you want a tailored, exclusive experience or can’t find an open session that suits your schedule!
For coasteering at Dancing Ledge, there are no dedicated changing rooms or toilets at the meeting point. You’ll meet our team in the car park and can change into your wetsuits there. We recommend arriving in your swimming costume and bringing a towel. Occasionally, the National Trust provides portable toilets in the car park, but it’s best to assume there won’t be any. The nearest facilities are at Putlake Farm, just a short drive away.
For your coasteering session, please bring lace-up shoes suitable for the water, you won’t be able to participate without proper footwear. Also bring a swimming costume to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, and a water bottle. You may want a rash vest or t-shirt for extra comfort. If you wear contact lenses, it’s a good idea to have a spare pair to put in after your session.

While we aim to avoid cancellations, the weather can sometimes be unpredictable. If a session is cancelled due to weather, we’ll work with you to reschedule at a convenient time. A bit of rain won’t spoil the adventure, but 6ft waves just might!
Coasteering is physically demanding. For open sessions, participants must be at least 14 years old. We can arrange sessions for children aged 8–14, just get in touch with us first. There is also a minimum height requirement of 138cm (4'6").
